There are 3rd party batteries, but do not come with the chip that enables the reading 5D/7D battery level. You can also use the Canon charger standard on both. It would be extra heavy to carry. If you are comfortable with this going for it. Otherwise, get the original Canon. You pay a premium for them. One or two. A day of shooting, you can easily use a battery. If you're in the video you must have at least two of the swap, while the other is charging.
